Replace your Furnace Filters
We always want to make sure that our clients in Calgary are prepared and knowledgeable about their plumbing and furnace-repairing needs, which is why we’ve decided to share a few tips for changing and maintaining furnace filters. Changing and cleaning your furnace filter are essential steps for ensuring your furnace’s lifespan and functionality. Neglecting filters can lead to blocks in air flow, causing overheating and the premature wearing of certain parts of your furnace.
To prevent these problems, change (or clean, if you have permanent filters) your filters each season. If you’ve neglected this checking and now have furnace problems, we’ll come out and help repair or replace your furnace anytime. If you want to begin this process, but have never changed filters before, here’s a mini how-to guide to show you how to work with general furnace filter replacement:
- Pop open the filter. Make sure they are free of excessive dust and that everything seems to be working correctly.
- Take out the filter and hold it up. If you can’t see through it while holding it towards a light, it needs to be replaced.
- Whether putting back the old, still usable filter, or the new, clean filter, remember to insert it back into your furnace with the arrow pointing towards the furnace.
- If your filter has UV lights, make sure to avoid eye contact with the light.
Easy, right? And to think: Not doing this simple check each season can cost you time and money in furnace repairs. If you have any questions, think you may already need furnace repair, or have a furnace with UV lights that needs maintenance, please call us and let us assist you in all your Calgary furnace needs.
